The Man Behind the Brand
Coming soon... any writers wanna collab on my bio? 😅🤣
Here's a temporary placeholder from a recent Facebook post.
Friends! I’ve finally discovered the one thing I love most that threads between my various creative endeavors! More than just being creative, I love doing it with others! Further, I love encouraging and inspiring other people to be consciously creative. It is apparent in all the ways I have really invested my creative energy throughout my life but is only now becoming clear how it all fits together.
I’ve always enjoyed playing in bands- from school to stage. Practicing on my own for the purpose of mastering any one instrument has never been my thing, but playing many instruments well enough to perform with and support different acts is my jam (if you know, you know). I especially love playing songs that inspire and move people forward- but find great joy in playing music with others, in general. The studio is one of my happy places, but it never feels right when I am alone.
Bounskee didn’t start as a business idea- it started as an art project. The first iteration (pre-Bounskee) was a modified cardboard box and, working with a crew of artists, we decorated ping pong balls for fun. The second iteration was another box I decorated with the help of the kids. A friend saw that one and suggested I explore bringing it to market. This prompted coming up with a name, basic research on starting a biz, and developing a prototype. When I first “released” Bounskee, art was very much a part of the brand identity, though it slid back a little as I “learned” more about “business” and struggled to find product market fit. Bounskee as a game doesn’t require art, but it’s always been a suggested option and is still one of the things I love most about what I created. Co-creating and community engagement through Bounskee really leveled up this past summer with the two Community Challenge collaborations- adding custom storylines and art, as well as a collective goal.
In the process of developing Bounskee, I learned some industrial design and crafting techniques and skills that I find enjoyable. This was mostly learned on the job at WoodLab Designs as I took on various custom projects. Looking back, I really loved helping create other peoples’ and brands’ custom pieces to their liking. I especially loved work that served a functional purpose. Still now, under Justoneus Creations, most of the things I make have custom options and many can be left blank for an artist to decorate on their own. I am now planning to take it one step further and feature other products by independent creators that fit the brand ethos- which will be more clearly defined on my various platforms soon.
With both Justoneus Creations and Bounskee (soon to be more clearly a JC product), I have been dreaming of and finding ways to inspire, collaborate with, and showcase other creatives- the foundation has been laid. Now, with Justoneus Collective, I am starting to do this more through music- my first art and what I am best recognized for (at least until recently, and still, mostly). There is synergy between all my creative outlets now. A unifying factor. The circuit is complete.
A Justoneus brand makeover and repositioning has begun. A bit of work to do on that front and not my favorite kinds of work so bear with me. But I have a handful of web domains (and too many email addresses LOL), 2 trademarks and a pending patent, and a plan of action that finally actually makes sense to me. In the meantime, please subscribe to my brand new YouTube channel: YouTube.com/@justoneuscollective (live shows TBA and more vids coming soon…). You can temporarily still find Bounskee products at https://bounskee.fun and Justoneus Creations products at https://justoneuscreations.etsy.com. Those will be moving in the near future (Bounskee info and resources will still be at bounskee.fun) and there will be one website to rule them all…
While it has happened that I adopted the name Justoneus (pronounced juss-toe-knee-us), the Justoneus brand is inherently not about me. JUST ONE US is about the creative and connective potential in all of us. We are all in this together so let’s make the best of it in our own unique ways. What do you want to see in the world?
